Dushanbe Water Festival will be held in Tajikistan on the 6 of June 2022, in the capital’s Park of Culture “Navruzgoh”. This will be a celebration of water as the basis of life, well-being, prosperity, and sustainable development.
The festival is organized by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan as part of the Second High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028, which will be held from 6 to 9 June 2022 in Dushanbe.
The main goal of the Dushanbe Water Festival is to raise public awareness of the value of water as a vital resource, to taking care and preserve it for future generations. Along with positive messages, the Festival will point out the existing problems and challenges and the need to mobilize efforts to overcome them.
The festival is also aimed at demonstrating the policy and practice of Tajikistan as a leader in promoting water issues on the global agenda, as well as drawing the attention of the world community to the UN 2023 Water Conference, under the chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The UN 2023 Water Conference is expected to be historic and will accelerate action to achieve the water goals of the global Development Agenda.
The Dushanbe Water Festival consists of five components. The program of the Festival includes an exhibition of folk crafts and creativity, an exhibition of dishes of Tajik national cuisine and other countries of the world, an exhibition of various types of drinking water, a concert program with the participation of the country’s leading masters of art, a fashion show of Tajik national clothes and other show programs.
The festival will continue from 18:30 to 21:00 and will provide guests-participants of the conference with an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with the rich history, culture, art, and traditions of the Tajik people, as well as spend a pleasant and interesting evening in a friendly and festive atmosphere.
