Cairo Water Week (CWW 2022) began its work on 16 October in Cairo, Egypt under the chairmanship of H.E. Mr. Abdel Fatah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The central theme of Cairo Water Week is “Water at the Heart of Climate Action”. CWW 2022 will host the second high-level flagship event “Policy Dialogues in Water Scarce Countries to Achieve the SDGs”. The Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt has included CWW-2022 in the global preparatory framework for COP 27 and the UN 2023 Water Conference.
The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan this week is headed by the First Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Jamshed Shoimzoda.
At the opening ceremony of the Cairo Water Week, Mr. Jamshed Shoimzoda emphasized the importance of the Water Week on the way to the UN 2023 Water Conference and encouraged participants to actively participate in the preparatory process and at the UN 2023 Water Conference itself. At the same time, he made a special focus on the outcome of the Conference – the Water Action Agenda, which is a voluntary commitment by UN member countries and other stakeholders to strengthen action to achieve SDG 6 and other internationally agreed water goals.
He called on all parties to be proactive in this process and to contribute to the success of the Conference, including through innovative and effective voluntary commitments.
