On 1 September 2022 at the final session of the World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden under the title “What’s Next?” a speech was given on behalf of the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan – First Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Jamshed Shoimzoda and as Co-Chair of the UN 2023 Water Conference, Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan for Water and Climate Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda.
The final session was devoted to the results of the sessions held within the framework of the World Water Week on water, climate and the achievement of all SDGs through SDG 6. The high-level session discussed issues such as the future of water and the planet – “What’s Next?” And what needs to be done, starting today, what will happen next, how can we achieve the changes that we have been talking about for so long?
The session mainly focused on the UN 2023 Water Conference, co-chaired by the governments of Tajikistan and the Netherlands, and how, through the preparatory process and hosting of this event, governments can stimulate innovation to achieve all of the SDGs, and in particular SDG 6.
The session was also attended by Ms. Liesje Schreinemacher, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Professor Mariana Mazzucato, a leading expert on the role of governments in innovation and author of best-selling books such as Mission Economy, Founder of the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose, Mr. Patience Mususa is a Senior Fellow at the North African Institute and Mr. Martin Koehring of The Economist Impact.
