Presentation of the results of the Dushanbe Conference at the 29th meeting of the APWF Governing Council

On 27 July 2022, the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan to the High-Level Panel on Water and Climate, Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFAS Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda attended the APWF 29th Governing Council Meeting.

He presented the results of the 2nd Dushanbe Conference on the International Water Decade as the main preparatory event for the UN 2023 Water Conference, which will be held in March, co-chaired by Tajikistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

In his speech, Mr. Rahimzoda noted the possible role of APWF in the UN 2023 Water Conference, as well as mentioned that the commitments, initiatives, and key messages contained in the outcome documents of the 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit, including the Kumamoto Water Initiative and the Kumamoto Declaration, can be registered in the outcome document of the “Water Action Agenda” of the UN 2023 Water Conference.

In turn, the APWF, as well as the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, expressed their readiness for close cooperation with Tajikistan, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and EC IFAS in the preparation and holding of the UN 2023 Water Conference.
