Today 23 April​ 2022, the​ Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Emomali Rahmon made a video message at the opening ceremony of the 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit in Kumamoto, Japan.​
In his video message, H.E. Emomali Rahmon expressed his satisfaction that the 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit aims to discuss the topic “Water for Sustainable Development: Best Practices and the Next Generation”. The President noted that it is important to attract more attention of the international community to solving water problems and climate change related to water.​
It was emphasized that in 2007, at the 1st Asia-Pacific Water Summit in Beppu the President of the Republic of Tajikistan noted that “the trend of world development is such that the cost of water can exceed the cost of oil, gas, coal and other resources necessary for a sustainable future of every country and region” and after almost fifteen years, the analyzes​ confirmed the correctness of these statements.​
It was also noted that Tajikistan, as the initiator of the new Decade of Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, will be held the Second High-Level Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” 2018-2028 from June 6 to 9 of this year,​ ​ which will serve as a link in the chain of various global events, including today’s Summit, and will play a key role in the preparatory process for the UN Conference on the Midterm Comprehensive Review of the Water Decade in 2023.​
At the end of the speech, the Leader of the Nation also invited all participants of the Summit to the Second Dushanbe Conference on the International Water Decade.
