On 5 of April 2022, the Regional Meeting of the UN Resident Coordinators was held in Geneva, Switzerland.
Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFAS, Co-Chairman of the Dushanbe Water Process Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda took part in the ninth session of this meeting as a panelist. The session was dedicated to the Second High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028, which will be held on 6-9 June 2022 in Dushanbe.
In his speech, Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda noted the importance of water resources for achieving sustainable development, and also emphasized the efforts of Tajikistan in promoting water issues on the regional and global agenda, as well as the work done and further steps in preparing and holding the Second Dushanbe Conference on Water Decade.
The participants of the session were also provided with information on the preparatory process for holding the UN Conference on the Midterm Comprehensive Review of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028, which will be held on 22-24 of March 2023 in New York under the chairmanship of Tajikistan and the Netherlands.
The session was also attended and delivered by Mr. Federico Properzi, Chief Technical Adviser, UN-Water, and Ms. Madhushree Chatterjee, Chief of Natural Resources and Interlinkages Branch at the Division for Sustainable Goals of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
