On 30 August 2022 within the framework of the World Water Week, the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on Water and Climate, Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, took part as a speaker at the third session of the SIWI seminar entitled “Achieving food and nutrition targets by 2030 through water security”.
The seminar consisted of three sessions that aimed to accelerate action towards building resilient and climate change-inclusive water and food systems on the way to the UN 2023 Water Conference. The session was also aimed at preparing key messages on solving water problems and proposals for the UN 2023 Water Conference.
The session was also attended by Henk Ovink – Special Envoy for International Water Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Gabriel Ferro – Chairman of the UN Committee on World Food Security, Nadita Imbulana – Representative of the World Bank Group in Sri Lanka, Michel Chew – Doctor of James Cook University Singapore, Sasha Ko-Oshima – Deputy Director of Land and Water Division at the UN Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) and others.
During the final session, the co-chairs of the UN 2023 Water Conference provided the participants with information on the preparatory process of the Conference, and also emphasized the importance of joining efforts and the importance of the contribution of each participant to this process.
At the end of the session, the participants presented special messages to the UN 2023 Water Conference.
