The Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Water and Climate Coalition Leaders, Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, discussed with the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation of the Republic of Senegal, H.E. Mr. Serigne Mbaye Thiam Senegal’s participation in the UN 2023 Water Conference, which will be held in March New York under the co-chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

During the meeting, H.E. Mr. Serigne Mbaye Thiam expressed the high interest of Senegal, including the President of Senegal, in participating in the Conference, as well as in co-chairing the fourth Interactive Dialogue of the Conference “Water for cooperation: Transboundary and International Water Cooperation, Cross-Sectoral Cooperation, including Scientific Cooperation, and Water Across the 2030 Agenda”.
Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda clarified the procedure for selecting co-chairs of interactive dialogues of the Conference and noted that the selection of countries as co-chairs of interactive dialogues will take place in January 2023.
The parties also discussed further cooperation on water resources between Tajikistan and Senegal after the 2023 Conference in order to implement the results achieved following this historic event, as well as achieve the goals and objectives of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028.
