On 26 January 2023, a meeting of the International Advisory Committee (IAC) of the Dushanbe Water Process was held virtually to promote the implementation of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028.
The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFAS, Co-Chair of the Dushanbe Water Process from the Tajik side, Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, and Global Director of the Water Global Practice of the World Bank Group, Co-Chair of the Dushanbe Water Process from the Development partners side Mr. Saroja Kumar Jha with the participation of members of the International Advisory Committee and other interested parties.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the contribution of the 2nd Dushanbe Conference on the International Water Action Decade to the UN 2023 Water Conference, exchanged views on the possible obligations of the IAC to be included in the Water Action Agenda of the UN 2023 Water Conference, as well as potential mechanisms for using the Dushanbe Water Process as a reporting mechanism for fulfilling the obligations included in the Water Agenda for Action of the UN Conference 2023.
Members of the IAC also exchanged views on the strategic vision and possible themes for the 3rd Dushanbe Conference on the International Water Decade, which will be held in 2024 in Dushanbe.
