On 11 of April 2022, a virtual trilateral meeting was held between the Co-Chairman of the Dushanbe Water Process, Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFAS, Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, with the First Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ms. Amina Muhammed, and the Special Envoy for International Water Affairs for the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mr. Henk Ovink. The meeting was also attended by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the UN, Mr. Jonibek Hikmat.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the process of preparing for the UN Conference on the Midterm Comprehensive Review of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028, which will be held on 22-24 March 2023 in New York under the chairmanship of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

 The parties considered the program of the Conference, its goals and objectives, expectations from this conference, plenary sessions planned within the framework of the conference, interactive dialogues and side events. The importance of involving non-governmental organizations, civil society, academic institutions, academia, the private sector and other stakeholders in the preparatory process was emphasized in order to obtain the vision of the world community regarding the holding of this Conference through a global online consultation.
