On 11 January 2023, a meeting was held at UNICEF Headquarters in New York to discuss preparations for the UN 2023 Water Conference.

The meeting was attended by the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Water and Climate Coalition Leaders Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the UN Mr. Jonibek Hikmat, Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF Mr. Omar Abdi and others.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the participation of UNICEF at the UN 2023 Water Conference, including through the active involvement of youth from different regions of the world at various sessions of the Conference, participation in cultural events, as well as organizing a virtual reality corner (VR corner) on the role of water resources in the development of sustainable development in Tajikistan within the framework of the Exhibition “Tajikistan’s Development Story”, which will be organized on the sidelines of the Conference.
It was noted that the Conference will provide a good opportunity for various youth networks to be heard, to better understand and realize the value and role of water in various areas of life and sectors of the economy in the context of climate change and a pandemic, the importance of water cooperation to achieve global water goals.
The active role of UNICEF in promoting the issues of drinking water supply and sanitation, the implementation of various projects in this direction, and the readiness of UNICEF to continue this activity and active cooperation on the way to the successful holding of the UN 2023 Water were also noted.
