On 24 October 2022 in the office of the UN Global Water Compact, in New York the dialogue on “UN 2023 Water Conference – Public-Private Partnerships for Scale” was held.
The dialogue was organized by the UN Global Water Compact in a hybrid format to enhance public-private partnerships to achieve the ambitious goals of the UN 2023 Water Conference.
The Special Envoy of the Republic of Tajikistan for Water and Climate Issues, Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, and the Special Envoy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for Water Resources, Mr. Henk Ovink, spoke at the opening of the meeting and presented the vision of the co-chairs on the preparation and holding of the Conference, including through an inclusive, cross-sectoral and action-oriented approach. In this context, they stressed the importance of the business community and the private sector being involved in this process and making concrete commitments to accelerate action to achieve the water goals.
The dialogue also brought together representatives of governments and more than 30 private sectors to discuss the expected outcomes of the 2023 Conference, what commitments might be possible, and how the public and private sectors could work more closely to achieve the water goals and targets, and the 2030 Agenda.
The dialogue provided a good forum for all participants to exchange views and experiences that would lead to concrete action and could be useful and necessary to achieve the expected outcomes of the 2023 Conference.
