On 12 April 2022, a meeting was held in New York between the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan to the High-Level Panel on Water and Climate Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, the Special Envoy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for Water Resources Mr. Henk Ovink and the Chief of Outreach and Partnerships Branch at UN DESA Ms. Lotta Tahtinen.
The parties discussed issues of cooperation within the framework of the preparatory process for the UN Conference on the Midterm Comprehensive Review of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028, which will be held on 22-24 March 2023 in New York including raising awareness of a wide circle of the world community about the Conference, its goals and objectives.
The parties also emphasized the importance of holding the 2nd High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028, which will be held on 6-9 June 2022 in Dushanbe under the title ” Catalyzing water action and partnership at the local, national, regional and global levels” to promote the UN 2023 Water Conference.
