From 15 to 17 February 2023 in Cape Town, Republic of South Africa a Conference entitled “Transformative Future for Water Security” was held, organized by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI).
The conference aimed to raise water ambitions and bridge the gaps between science, policy and action so that water research and innovation can better contribute to accelerating SDG6 and progress toward water security for all.

The event convened multi-stakeholder dialogues between political, business, academic, and other stakeholders to build alliances and take science-based actions toward water security. During the dialogues, 6-7 missions were proposed that will set highly ambitious, transformative goals for science-based action on water security.
This event was dedicated to the UN 2023 Water Conference, which will be held on 22-24 March in New York under the co-chairmanship of Tajikistan and the kingdom of the Netherlands. The missions are expected to be registered as voluntary commitments in the Water Action Agenda.
At the opening of the plenary session, Mr. Sanoi Boyzoda, the Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Executive Committee of IFAS, a member of the working group on preparations for the UN 2023 Water Conference delivered a speech. In his speech, he informed the conference participants about the work done during the preparatory process for the UN 2023 Water Conference.
He also noted the importance of the 2nd Dushanbe Conference and how this event influenced the preparations for the UN 2023 Water Conference. In this context, Mr. Sanoi Boyzoda called on the participants of this event to take part in the work of the UN 2023 Water Conference and join forces to make it a success and a watershed moment for the whole world.
