On 21 of March 2022 the 9th World Water Forum started its work under the slogan “Water Security for Peace and Development” in Dakar, Senegal. The Forum was opened by the President of the Republic of Senegal – H.E. Mr. Macky Sall. In his speech the President of Senegal also mentioned the importance of the high-level Dushanbe Conference on International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028 which will be held on 6 to 9 of June 2022.
The forum is organized at the social, political and economic levels to create a platform that will act as a catalyst for action to accelerate universal access to water and sanitation, address global agenda issues and commitments related to the SDGs, the Water Decade, the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Paris climate agreement, etc.
The Delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan participates in the Forum chaired by the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Juma Daler Shofaki.
As a part of the Forum Tajikistan organizes various events including exhibition and high-level Panel dedicated to the global initiatives and the International decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028 and announcing the 2025 the International Year for the Glacier Preservation.
The Forum actively promotes the goals and objectives and the importance of the 2nd High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028, which is the main preparatory event for the UN Conference on the Midterm Comprehensive Reviews of the International Decade for Action “Water for sustainable development”, 2018-2028, which will be held on 22-24 of March, 2023 in New York under the co-chairmanship of Tajikistan and the Netherlands.
